Jack Underwood Posted September 16, 2016 Posted September 16, 2016 So I posted a while back asking about anvils and got a lot of helpful feed back and this is what I ended up being able to make. It is two 14" chunks of trolley track welded to itself to give more it more meat. I know it is not ideal but it worked OK once I got it held down Quote
Frosty Posted September 17, 2016 Posted September 17, 2016 Ayup, that'll work. If you can find another piece weld it to the other side and flip it over. Hopefully it'll be a few inches or even a foot longer. If it's only a little longer offset it so the extra is extending from one end and make your horn. It it's enough longer you can make a round horn and a square horn on opposite ends. The technique makes a good working anvil it just doesn't look like a "real" London pattern anvil. Looks count a lot less with me than function. Of course that's just me. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
Jack Underwood Posted September 17, 2016 Author Posted September 17, 2016 Thanks, I'll definitely look into making a horn for it Quote
Frosty Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 That suggestion was a just in case thing. Horns are kind of over rated I rarely use the horn except as a bottom fuller and that's sort of a PITA as it's tapered so you have to compensate. Don't invest a lot of effort trying to come up with a horn. However if the opportunity arises having one can't hurt so long as it doesn't fall horn first on your foot. Frosty The Lucky. Quote
