BlackMetalViking
Has anyone ever heard of VITSET High alumina refractory mortar from VITCAS Refractories? I just found this stuff online and was wondering if anyone has heard of it or used it? Its ready mixed and they claim it is good to 3,200F. I like the idea of using a high alumina refractory, but the price has to be right. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Viking
Mikey98118
There are a few3200 and even 3400 high alumina refractories around, BUT you aren't talking about refractories; you said the product is mortar, and that isn't the same thing at all. Mortars are meant to hold bricks together; not to hold up as poured refractory shapes. If you are planing to use it as a hard coating over rigidized ceramic fiber, there are standard well known products around for the same purpose. I like the way you try to scope things out, but you need to keep on going right past this idea.
