I went flea marketing And found a leg vice today

He wanted 80$. And ended up taking 40$. With a long negotiation. It is fully functioning.  And the jaws are in good shape. Struck out on an anvil. But I got a piece of rr track coming in found on ebay. Got a little more done on the forge. I'm getting there. Slowly but surely.

I feel it coming...

If I were you I wouldn't worry about the rust, it seems good to me, just a little oil and it will be fine. Looks really nice, and a great price. A wire wheel would be the best way to remove the rust if you want to, or at least it would be for me. Not sure if that was what you were asking? Got caught up in the wording of it.

what's the jaw size? again a great price, the cheapest one I've bought was $60 (recently) but it was in much worse shape than yours-deep pits. I thought I was getting a good deal, jaw size was 4 1/2, if I remember correctly.

I actually told the guy I was just gonna use it as a yard ornament. Because I knew if he thought I was gonna actually use it he would of not come down so much.

Nice play! I will have to try that.
