ThomasPowers Posted May 25, 2016 Share Posted May 25, 2016 You are forge welding it on right? What are you doing for heat treat? What kind of anvil are you re-facing? (If you are arc welding plan to do a full penetration weld to get a good bond. Space it off the face of the anvil with a piece of stock in the middle and then start filling in the gap grinding out the piece before working on the other side. ) Charles McRaven describes heat treating an anvil after substantial repair work was done to it in "Country Blacksmithing" If you are in the USA you should be able to ILL it from your local library Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
