J.V.Reeve
I have a Grizzly 2"x72" grinder. I've noticed that the graphite covering on the platten is wearing uneven, especially around the tool rest area. Any recommendations on a better platten "slip pad" ? I read something about plate glass being used? By the way, I'm new here and have to say this site is a genuine "candy store" of information! imagedude
I don't think it's glass plate that is used! Some people use pyroceramic platterns. The source of the pyroceramic is usually stores that stock spares for woodburning stoves.
Rich Hale
My Grizzley' platen was not even close to being trued with the world. I fussedwith it until it was right, I do not use a cushion.
me miller
Check out elliscustomknifeworks site will have precut pyroceramic glass . You need to check also that you have a botome lip to h hold te glass in place so an accidental release does not go into the wheel. Most use j b weld to hold it to the platten.
