jperkins
My grandpa has an old American Scale 200lb anvil. It looks like it has a cast iron body and a Steel plate. However i can run a file acrosse and it digs deep. So a buddy said he can resurface it(which it really really needed) for cheap and while machining it he said it cut more like Ductile when he was expecting a harder steel. All that to ask if anyone know if American Scale co KCMO used steel plates or ductile iron on top of their anvils. I know how to harden steel but ductile will take some research. Thanks in advanceJed
Frozenforge
Unfortunately it sounds like it is cast iron. Many of the cast iron ones had the appearance of a faceplate built into the mold. Because of its size you could probably do some light work with it.
