Wanting to make some fish gigs,but not sure of a tempering process to use.Any ideas? Riverman

Depends on what steel you intend to use. :) sorry but thats as close as I can get without more details. Will you be using mild steel, rebar, or some super duper alloy?

I saw your other post asking for gig patterns also, so I will address both posts.

I make two different styles of gigs.

One style is a forged and fabricated style made from old pitchforks. The tines are cut down and reshaped to whatever distance you want between the tines. I weld on the barbs. The shaft is made from a 12 inch piece of

Bt ,the pitchfork gigs were what I was looking for,they are good to throw and lighter than the leaf spring gig,now gotta find some old pitchforks.Thanks ,Riverman

I saw in the other thread where you have a friend in MO that has a gig collection. Whereabouts is he located. I would like to see his collection sometime. I also have quite a few old examples of forged gigs that I have collected over the years.
