This old ball pein hammer has been forged square on the big end and somehow made into a set of initials (?) Wondering how this was done. Couldn't have been chiseled and it would have been before the advent of cutting wheels and angle grinders. A hacksaw and patience perhaps?

It was probably used to crown timber stumps.
