petehdgs Posted October 17, 2014 Posted October 17, 2014 So I recently picked up a buffalo forge similar to model 843. I found a catalog of theirs that listed a downdraft hood as as an option. It appears this hood allows the exhaust gasses to be drawn into the blower input for better smoke control. Has anyone used one of these and is it worth the effort? Quote

ThomasPowers Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I bought an old downdraft forge one that used a volkswagen hood as a replacement; it was not set up to recycle the smoke though; it had an electric blower dedicated to the fire and a duct connection that could be used to suck the smoke out of the building.
