Mmm0513
Hey guys, first time almost getting the flat grind. But some things not right. It's curved like a frown shape instead of straight. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Matt
jmccustomknives
Usually that will happen when you are putting more pressure at the handle (that's where you are holding it from). Like anything it will take practice to get the feel right so that doesn't happen.
TacticallySharp
Put more pressure on the mid point of the blade and draw it straight to get the line straight. Use a push stick if you need it. Sway your hips instead of moving your arms.
Loneforge
I scribe a center line on the blade edge and make even passes. When you grind toward the plunge line remember it is cutting on the way in and out.....you will be grinding more here every time. Try to get in and out quickly and go slower through the rest of blade. I also use a push stick. If you travel quicker to and from the plunge cuts you will get more even results and possibly eliminate that 2 inchitis! Hope this make sense to ya!
