one_rod
I've been lurking on this forum for a while now, and thought it was past time that I joined up. I am a want-to-be smith and knife maker here in England. When you find somewhere like this, full of people who actually know what they are talking about it really brings it home how much I have still got to learn. Job and family commitments mean that I don't get to spend nearly as much time as I would like at the forge, but when I do get the chance this is the sort of thing I like to make. or this Sorry about the quality of the photos, everybody tells me how easy digital photograph is, I don't know so much....... one_rod. one_rod
Thanks for the welcome! I just found this photo stashed in a corner of the hard drive. This was my KITH knife for a British knifemakers forum. It's a bit fancier than my usual, but the standards there are pretty high and I was trying hard not to look like a fool. The blade is 52100 bearing steel, the handle is hardwood and stacked leather. The pommel is steel, welded to the curved through tang. The scabbard is the same wood as the handle, with a leather overlay. one_rod.
