April 6, 201412 yr So I'm restoring this old Victrola record player, it's a VV-IV. I took it all apart and i found out the mainspring is broken. Does anyone know where I can get a new one? or how to repair it? the break is flat and around an inch to an inch and a half from the middle of the spring. Thanks in advance! Ben
April 6, 201412 yr That's a tough one Ben. I think it's yellow pages time, I'd call a clock repair place first. I doubt they'll have anything that large but they might know who does or who might know who does. When you call, tell them you don't want to take up valuable time but you have an off the wall question. Askig in that general form first lets them know you respect their time but better yet you might have an interesting question. Lots of professional folk welcome something new, I've had super luck with the method. Best of luck and please let us know how it goes for you. Frosty The Lucky.
April 7, 201412 yr Author Will do! That's a good idea. Everyone online only offers the whole restored thing or you have to send it to them and they'll repair it for you, which is ridiculously expensive. So i think i might just do that! thanks, Ben
April 7, 201412 yr Google "ron sitko parts" for a number, may not get him during the day. he might be able to help you.
April 8, 201412 yr And where did he suggest you find one when you asked him? Asking random blacksmiths about a speciality item seems to make less sense than to start asking people involved in them.
