Metal Koi Fish (Work in Progress)

Featured Replies

Hi folks, been working on a Koi Fish sculpture for a lady that has a patio next to a Koi fish pond.  When all said and done, It will have plate steel for the base. Two large seaweeds and a Lilly pad. The fish will be welded to the metal plant stalks as if it is swimming through them. I probably hand forge a frog to put on the lilly pad.

Love to see each part and the whole thing when completed.

Here is the fish with KOI markings and some fin detail. I use a torch to make the markings and slid a stick welder to make the fin details. Next up is the base, lilly pads, lilly pad flower and reed grass. Will post picks as I go.

Moving along with the sculpture. Here is a pic of the roughed out lilly pads and the lilly pad flower. The flower petals will be bent up and the flower will be welded to one of the lilly pads

Here is the sculpture to date. I just have to add another smaller lilly pad, top it with a frog. I am also trying to determine what kind of finish I should coat it with. Any ideas will be greatly apprieciated.
