jimbob
Not having the money to buy a Baldor buffer I settled on an inexpensive grinder with the side guards removed and extra long work arbor on each side I've had it on a stand for several years now I see no need to upgrade I bought my extra long work arbors from Kovel (now Jantz supply) Jantz Supply - Your source for knifemaking! jimbob
here's a picture of my buffer with the long arbors with buffing wheels on it as you can see you have a lot of room to buff long items
welder19
Looks fine to me, if it works leave it alone. welder19
Brian C.
For a BIG buffer, you should have seen the one in Dad's orthopaedic shop. We used a 5 hp motor with a 1.5 in. shaft turning an 18 or 20 in. wheel. It would really cut the scratches out, but it was as dangerous as a cocked gun if you were'nt on your toes at all times (don't ask me how I know). I could have had it when he retired, but it was 3 phase & here I am in a suburb more or less with only regular service. :(
