I Forge Iron

Whats been happening at my shop lately

Recommended Posts

Hello y'all, 5starhobo (Blake as I know him) and I have been quite busy in the shop the last couple of days. We would like to share some pictures we have taken over the past few days. Please forgive me If I name or call something incorrectly, thank you!

Hand tools Blake forged for him self. From left to right hot chisel, bob punch, round punch, square punch, oval punch for 1/2 stock(?) and a oval punch for 3/8 stock (?)

While I was working on some other things Blake decided to gather up my hand tools and regrind them. Thank you for that Blake.

Blake is making this 3inch fuller upset. Poor thing threw a tantrum half way through.

Uh oh the striking anvil is a bit crooked from twisting the 3inch fuller back square.

This is the reason why we twist the fullers back square. They get out of align in the forging process, we do not do that on purpose!

Here we have a finished 3inch fuller and a 1 1/2inch fuller.

=) It is really nice to see you and Blake being able to reproduce what you have learned through the summer. Partly that was my teaching and that makes me a bit proud ^__^U. But also Blake did a great job remembering the fuller forging and YOU remembering all that and being able to reproduce and go even further! If you want some constructive critique tell me and I shall advise you, especially on the tongs!

It nice for us old geezers to watch you young whoopersnappers communicaing with each other about the skills you have learned and shared together. That is an inspiration.

Carry on

Thanks Mr. Gaddis! It was a pleasure to meet you while on my short stay in Mississippi! Hope to see you soon again. Ever think of sending daniel some of that rootbeer of yours?  ;)
