Frank Turley
I lay no claim to the excellence of Jason Brown's work, although he took a class from me a few years ago. Jason received two blue ribbons at the recent SWAIA Indian Market in Santa Fe, NM. The Indian Market is a huge juried show with booths covering the downtown plaza and the surrounding side streets. I don't know of any other Native American who is forging iron and bronze; he's in a class by himself. If he has a specialty, it is forging Northwest coast, stylized animal and human forms in relief. Jason is not averse to taking a section of angle iron or channel iron to begin a sculpture. Check out www.hammerhandforge.com
John McPherson
Blown...Away... Some really great, original artwork, and his own shop and vision. But he makes no bones that he learned the craft (and business) by working for others as a journeyman, as well as going to school(s). It takes years to become an overnight success.
