ThomasPowers Posted July 5, 2013 Share Posted July 5, 2013 I wasn't too impressed and would not place great confidence in their numbers I mean a history of steel that jumps from 300 BC to 1856! Also "damascus was developed in India" with a picture of a pattern welded blade and no mention that wootz was developed in Central Asia; and India wasn't India back then. Also the Spartans using steel weapons---I'd like a lot more documentation on that one as even the Romans used wrought iron swords in the first centuries AD and lauded the celtic swords that were being made with un hardened steels (Pleiner, The Celtic Sword). Wrought iron was about the same hardness as hammered bronze---it's real advantage is that iron ore is EVERYWHERE where tin for bronze making is fairly rare.
