July 9, 200719 yr Hi Folks, after several of you (yes you know who you are Uncy) asked me about the hammers I've been building for Kevin Boys I've managed to get a few photo's edited to size. Here they are, including one of the Man Himself with the litttle Helve. Enjoy.... comments are welcome. The little helve took about three days to make. The Tyre hammer is taking a little longer...
July 10, 200719 yr Very cool Ian, I would love to see a video of that little helve in action if that would be possible?
July 10, 200719 yr Ian, the set ups look great Are you guys pretty set on those dies? They look like the would be hard (heavy) to change out :)
July 10, 200719 yr Hi Ian. Nice hammers. How hard does the little helve hit? As hard as a striker? ;)
July 10, 200719 yr Author The little helve runs at about 160 to 180 BPM and managed to put a 2 inch long square taper onto a piece of 1 inch rebar in a single heat. The dies I made for the little Tyre Hammer were never meant to be changed out annd wont be. They're a permanent feature. :)
July 10, 200719 yr Ian, Both hammers look like they'll work well. I'd love to see a video of them in action. Here is a pic of my home built power hammer.
July 11, 200719 yr Hi Ian. Thanks for the reply. My striker can do that too, but he needs a beer after two such points. Me too. I gotta get one of those hammers.
July 20, 200718 yr I like the little helve a lot. I have had to down size because of age and health. So the big hammers are out. Do you have any more pics of the running gear? This would fit on the back patio real fine.
