Tip #1, if you put your general location in your header you might be pleasantly surprised to find out how many folk on IFI are within easy visiting distance. Another tip is to find the local blacksmithing organization and met the local gang. You'll learn more in an hour with an experienced smith than you will in days, weeks, months figuring it out yourself. The real secret to the craft is knowledge and practice. Of course asking questions is good, we enjoy answering questions even if we have to make things up. <wink> You DO realize asking two blacksmiths a question will get you at least three answers.
