How do you get such a smooth finish on the cone portion when forging???? I'm always left with tons of hammer marks...

I gota make me some of those. How are you pumping them out so quick that two of them are still that hot?

He has access to a complete welding/machining/blacksmith shop. Correct me if I am wrong, but the way **I** would do that is:

 

Cut mild square rods to short length with saw. Use 4 jaw chuck on lathe and taper attachment to turn cones.

 

Get strip of 1/4" x 1 1/2" steel, punch square holes with punch station on ironworker, cut into squares with shear on ironworker.

 

Arc weld square rods into square holes in square washers produced above.

 

Heat in forge and bend while hot, toss on floor to cool, clean and paint, repeat as needed to fill orders. List & sell. Advertise in any permissible way.   ;^)

 

Now that Poor Boy Blacksmith Tools is gone, there is a niche to be filled.

Ken S. passed away Dec. 29th, and to my knowledge, no one took over making his line of welded blacksmith's tooling, or his on-line sales.
