February 18, 201313 yr Howdy again! First up is another ram's head in high vanadium cruforge. Edge quenched into vegetable oil. After etching I can see a grain boundry, but it was only barely visible beforehand. I'm trying hard these days to get better at controlling grain growth and formation, and after reading Justin Carnecchia's tutorial I realize the first thing I need to get better at step-down normalizing. Here are some pretty pictures of the mild steel practice knives I did. Commissioned sword in cruforge as well, wenge and brass fittings with a low layer damascus guard. I am not very happy with the quality of the photos, and plan on having a talk with my photographer friend. February 19, 201313 yr great work man. I especially like the larger rams head knife and the claw on the bottom of the 1080 knife.
