January 30, 201313 yr New to IFI but have been reading for a long time. A world of knowledge available to the novice. A few of the posters/contributors have influenced my trials, helped me understand my mistakes and recognize my successes. I've just about got the claw hammer complete - ton of fun making with my trusty striker Bob S. I've got to cut the groves in the head and finish the orange Osage handle. Bob and I have made a few other tools changing off striking and directing. The forging hammers weigh 1 3/4LB, 2 3/4lb and 3 3/4lb with the handles. How do they look? The good, bad and any good helping hints are welcomed.
January 30, 201313 yr Awesome looking hammers! They all look like great tools that will last a lifetime! :) Cheers and welcome to IFI
January 31, 201313 yr Spectacular work, sir. Love the look of the carpenter's hammer, but those other ones aren't too shabby, either!!
January 31, 201313 yr Great looking tools; I am curious of the steel used in each, and a description of each. That is some good work and I think I may "borrow" your ideas sometime!
