January 1, 201313 yr Do any of you fellows have a cnc plasma cutting table? If so how do you like it? What size is it? How much did you pay? Thank You!
January 1, 201313 yr I have a Torchmate 2x2. I love it! I payed $2800 for it. I already had a computer, plasma cutter and air compressor, so the start up cost was minimal. Most of the parts I cut are small for production items. Like flowers, leaves, shovel blanks, round discs, ect. Larger items I can design and email to my supplier and they can, plasma or laser cut it out on a larger machine, providing a big cost savings to me.
January 2, 201313 yr I have a Dynatorch 5x10 - Love the table. Know you will have a good chunk invested in a good air system and plasma cutter as well. You can also look up a MechMate if your into building a platform yourself.
January 2, 201313 yr It makes things possible that is difficult otherwise, especially with production runs. Ours is a combination of an 15 year old CNC engraving machine that we added the plasma cutter on, the software isn't really right for the job, so it take a while to set up every time. And we already had the compressed air that were good enough. The size is about 800 x 600, which is much too small, I would recommend nothing smaller than 1200 x 1200. Don't bother too much about the physical system, as long as you can get spares easily and help is a phone call away there shouldn't be a problem. Make sure you get decent software, that is where all the magic is. It is easier to work with good software and a bad machine than to work with bad software and a good machine.
January 4, 201313 yr I'm using an early 1990's Koike Ductmaster 5' x 10' table that I bought pretty much for scrp price. It was still functional, but the controls were horrible, and to get software to interface it was super expensive considering it was 20 year old technology. It came with a 100amp Thermal Dynamics dual gas plasma cutter of the same vintage. I switched the motors over to big steppers and set it up to run on Mach3 software that turns a PC into a cnc controller. I actually bought a great arc voltage sensing torch height controller but have not yet installed it. The old plasma cuts well and tips for it are dirt cheap. And, I know the machine well enough to fix it if theres an issue. Here it is cutting:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCbhcdxcLEM&sns=em
