The singletree can make a neat project for a pot rack, utensil rack, or coat rack.

You got the center correct, but the ends as I recall are either wrapped the long way with strap iron, or the short way with a wide piece of metal. This keeps the link from pulling out of the wood under load.  For decoration it is not as important as if it is to be used.

The only thing I had to do to this is the tab hooks on it. The rest is original to the singletree.

That is a neat idea. We had pulling ponies when I was a kid. I haven't seen a singletree in a long time.
