I Forge Iron

Forge in and AGM 2012 at Westpoint September 29 &30

Recommended Posts

For further details http://blacksmithsguild.com/special_events.html there should also be a fold forming demo amongst other things.

Come along and enjoy, the Forge In is not restricted to Guild members and anyone interested in the Guild can attend the AGM meeting although they do not have voting rights, comments are invited.

Next years course contents will be under discussion, any requests for specific specialist courses will be considered.

Bring them down Tom, anything thats going to be useful for you,

Rather make those than jus demo something that may not be that useful immediately.

Poor pay jobs and short hours seem to be the norm these days unless you're a politician or Banker, then reverse seems to apply

Toolmaking, problem solving all being done. The point of the weekend is to help people rather than just demo,

Sorry if you can't make it, but I will be at the Hertfordshire Show on October 6th and 7th, so if you can't make it, we can play then.

What kind of tools are you wanting to make specifically?

alas i shan't be able to make it at all now. I fell onto the broken end of a flourescent tube the other day and severed a nerve in my finger. As a consequence, I can't drive (or very much else to be honest!) so I win't be anle to pop on over after all.

hope some folk do make it though John, would be a shame if they miss out!

John - I will be looking to make a variety of tools.
Some tongs and punches etc. I will mostly be fine, just might need your input every now and again.

Hopefully I will see you there tomorrow. Right i'm off home to cook the wife dinner and butter her up a bit.

I may well be there John.
Currently have nothing made to sell though. Its a busy week as well, so getting things made is going to be difficult, but I will try.

I could do with making some money now i'm out of work, so it would be great to come along.

Hope you all had a good time down at the AGM.

Shame you missed it Tom, there was a really interesting demo about fold forming, quite a simple but really effective way of building up textures and form in sheet material, really neat and inspiring.

Thanks John for the hospitality, was an enjoyable day, and nice to meet some very talented people! Shame I had to go before the evening meal, it smelled delicious while it was cooking!

Going to be a bit lonely on my only if you don't manage to get there Tom, The AGM was enjoyable and the evening entertainment went down really well.

At the end of the day, do what's best for you.

It was a shame I couldn't make it. Got to keep the wife happy at the moment though.
Training for joining the army is taking up a fair bit of time, with job searching, plus the weather is extremely unpredictable at the moment.

I'd like to get there on the weekend to help you John, but the wife has planned things and is determined to go to Ikea for some reason.
