How small can I go?

Yeah, I remember that one, I thought it very unique and handy for the traveling smith. It could be just what he needs for the back yard. It's kind of like putting the rail on end and forging on the sweet spot, lots of mass under the hammer. I think over on Anvils Fire they show how to weld a horn the rail to make using the rail just a bit better.

Make everything able to be picked up with a hand truck and put away, post vise, forge, anvil... You set up when you want to play, put it away when you are done. You can even use a brick patio as a place to work, lay a piece of sheet metal on a heat resistant patio table to keep the table nice...

You can go from forging to entertaining guests in about an hour!

I shovel my fire into a steel bucket with a tight lid, used to be a 5 gallon paint can, put it on the end of my drive and put the forge out of the way. While the bucket takes all night to cool, the forge itself is cold pretty quick.
