March 13, 200719 yr what kind of steel is stamped #1 steel? I was able to pick up a piecs 8"x9" x 2.375" thick and it is stamped #1 steel. Any ideas? I can pick up a few more pieces about this size. Sean
March 13, 200719 yr DME is a supplier to the injection molding business and they sell #1, #2 and #3 steel - which roughly equal 1018, 4140 and H13 (if I recall correctly). This comes in plates so that might be what you have.
March 13, 200719 yr Since it's not a standardized naming system *EVERY* maker and distributor can stamp whatever they like as #1 and if two are the same it's just pure blind luck. Thomas
