Mike Hall
My name is Mike and I live in the sticks in NC about 40 minutes from Pinehurst and a little over an hour from Charlotte. I am looking to learn blacksmithing and would love to take a class, but I can't find any in the middle of the state.
Marksnagel
Hey Mike! Welcome to IFI. There are a lot of blacksmiths here in NC. Several out your way. Yance is from over your way http://www.iforgeiron.com/user/8077-yance/. There are several more out there too. You are on the other side of the state from me. I am sure that those near you will be glad to meet you. Mark <><
Ted T
Mike Welcome to I Forge Iron!! I know what it is to live out in the sticks. Try to find a blacksmith group near you. I consider a couple of hundred miles as being close enough out where I live. By contacting that group they may be able to tell you of a blacksmith living in your area that you did not know about. Then they will have meetings. There you should be able to find a starting point to be mentored by someone who is qualified. Here is what I found in the I Forge Iron Blacksmith Group list. North CarolinaNorth Carolina Chapter of ABANA I wish you the very best in finding what you need! Ted Throckmorton
Robert Conner
Welcome! I live up in Sanford, so you're about an hour away from me. There's several smiths over your way. The former head blacksmith at Old Salem now volunteers at the show up in Denton.
