November 26, 201114 yr Many good forge designs and sizes are in the Solid Fuel Forges section. It has 891 topics and 8,532 replies so pack a lunch and a cold drink before you go in. We need more information, coal, coke, corn, or other solid fuel? What size stock are you planing on using? Do you need just the ends heated or are you going to do scroll work or other large pieces? Help us out and we can provide better answers.
November 26, 201114 yr Mine is 12-inch x 14-inch, about 3 1/2-inches deep, made from 3/8-inc plate. It's worked great for a year now and shows no sign of wear. The base of mine is 5-inch square. I would recommend going to 6-inch square. I can heat 1 1/4-inch stock in about 8 minutes. I've also heated 7/8x2 3/4-inch flat bar to near welding temperature. If you search the forge section around this time last year, I had a thread with pics on building my whole forge. Like Glenn said, search this section, page by page. Oh yea, and that is for a coal-burning pot.
