anticide
Hello all, I am looking to purchase a 130lb anvil from someone who told me it's a Trenton. The serial number is A90650 and is stamped with an M130 (showing its weight I believe. Here is a picture of it, any information would help greatly! ThomasPowers
The diamond stamped in the side is the trademark of Trenton. Have then flip it over and check the depression in the base. If it's a caplet that's another Trenton sign IIRC. If it follows the outline of the base thats a strong Hay Budden sign. However I don't see anything indicating it's an HB over a Trenton looking at that Pic.
anticide
Thanks for the response. As I look closer I believe it actually is a Trenton. Trentons with a serial number (no letter) can be related to the year of manufacturer. Trenton serial numbers starting with an A would be circa 1898-1920. CurlyGeorge
According to Mr Postman, in Anvils In America, the A probably just stands for anvil. The serial # that you give is listed as being made in 1910. :)
Drewed
The side clip on the horn shows that it was a farrier's style of anvil. Nothing wrong with that. I tend to find them handy. I can see what looks like the trenton diamond on the picture you have included, and it very much has the right shape ( looks like a grey hound, compared to a bull dog ) The far edge looks pretty beat up and did they paint it?
