Would a electric leaf blower work as an air supply for a coal forge? Or would it be to much?

I bet it would be too much unless you found a way to control it.

Way too much unless you're planning to run a cupola furnace. You'd need to choke/divert it. And personally, the noise would drive me insane.

Maybe you could control it with a rheostat and run it at a slower speed.

I don't know what sort of motor the leaf blower uses, but I do know (from unfortunate experience) that unless it's a universal motor, it will not like being hooked up to a rheostat for long.

I looked around, and the blower probably does use a universal motor. So a rheostat would be a possibility. Just keep an eye on the temperature, and listen for unexplained changes in the sound it's making. Personally, I'd still be more inclined to run it at full speed and use a bleeder downwind of the blower discharge.

Since a blow drier will put out more air than a typical coal or charcoal forge will require a leaf blower is definite over kill and way more expensive than using something else---like a heater fan from a car for example.

Putting wear on something expensive to do a job that can be done by something cheap is generally not a good idea.

But putting wear on something that was free is better than putting wear on something that wasn't free.

if you look at your fire pot thread I put on a blue print for a fire pot I give information on a blower they run about $60.00 at Grainger if you are a ABANA member less. A leaf blower will work just add a damper to the in like.
