AndrewOC Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Hi All, Last Saturday I had the pleasure of picking up an ol' spring hammer; Did some research (digitised old newspapers online) to discover "Hands, Scott" were a blacksmithing/ engineering business in Arncliffe (Sydney, Australia) between at least 1912 and 1920. I have seen a couple of other 'Waratah' hammers online before, very similar but not exactly the same. Enjoy the pics, I'll be scouring this forum for spring guard, flywheel brake and die-block improvements; what a great resource it is! AndrewOC Quote

ThomasPowers Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 Looks like a stout one! What's the ram weight? Is a Waratah better than a Warrantee? remember to drain the tinnies before smashing them with it! Quote
Cordina.Customs Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Hi Andrew, How is the hammer going? I'm wondering if you've managed to find out anymore information? I too myself have just acquired a Waratah Spring Hammer - although mine is badged Harris, Scarfe Limited Machinery Merchants Adelaide. Cheers, Mark Quote
Irondragon Forge ClayWorks Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Welcome from the Ozark Mountains. You may not get an answer since this thread is 12 years old and Andrew hasn't logged on since January 27. If he doesn't answer you might send him a PM. I can't control the wind, all I can do is adjust my sail’s. Semper Paratus Quote
