Just starting out searching for anvil

Featured Replies

I just started getting into blacksmithing and while I could get a makeshift anvil by welding some forklift tines or a sledgehammer in a bucket I would prefer getting the real thing.
I'm in Passaic County NJ and searching for the past 2 weeks turned up nothing decent nearby. Looking for something up to around 250 dollars. At least 75lbs preferably heavier. Craigslist and Ebay both turned up nothing reasonable as of yet. I have sent an email to someone I met at a blacksmithing class who may have one or know of someone who does but until he gets back to me I was wondering if anyone here had some hints of any nearby.

Thanks
Jason

Pretty much ask around and let people know your looking for one then eh? Thats on going somewhat. I keep getting referred to POS cast iron ones or the vise/anvil all in ones.

Put TPAAAT to work and found the following.
153 LB. ANVIL - $250 (MEDFORD), 165 lbs. anvil - $275 (Monroeville), 170 lbs. wilkinson anvil with attachments $500 (SEYMOUR CT.), and 300 lbs Anvil - $350 (Rock Tavern}. That is 4 anvils in 40 minutes,

The 153 and 165 in your price range. The 300 pound anvil for $350, is about 85 miles away from your location as best I can tell. You will just have to make that decision on your own. (grin)

If it isn't to far for you to go I know of several in my area.
