John NC Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I took a lot of photos of old iron in Charleston last weekend, including Philip Simmons' last big work, "Heart Gate"My link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Simmons http://www.philipsimmons.us/index2.html Quote
Nakedanvil - Grant Sarver Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Very nice John! Something to look at on the website is the images are really slowing the page load. As an example the laser cut trivet is 2,758px × 2,758px but is only being displayed at 164px × 164px. If the images were reduced to the size they are being displayed it would speed the page load a bunch. Sorry to be picky, just trying to help. Quote
John NC Posted April 18, 2011 Author Posted April 18, 2011 the images are really slowing the page load. Grant, I have no control over that site, that's the Philip Simmons Foundation's doing. My pics are on the Panoramio link. http://www.panoramio.com/user/5796612/tags/Ironwork Quote
John McPherson Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Glad to see the paint holding up. That is not black, by the way, it is "Charleston Green". You see more and more of the green as it fades. I took a group of students down to do some service-learning projects for Alternative Spring Break in 2007. Some before and in progress pics. I'm the fat guy in the denim shirt. Quote
MG-42 Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 I really love Charleston. I met the woman of my dreams there 31 years ago and I still look at her every day. I can remember taking walks in down town Charleston and admiring the iron work. I did the same thing when I took her to Paris a couple of years ago. Quote
