monty
i have been asked to make a pair of large ring door latches (similar to ones on a church door) and need a square hole 12mm in one of the ends to attach to the bar joining the handles, does anyone have any past experiences of this? my real question is how should i go about making the hole. thanks in advance monty
clinton
One way would be to drill a hole undersized then use a square drift to square it up. Do a test piece to see the result
ThomasPowers
What about putting the sq hole in the latch ring and having the bar slide into that and get pinned? The church doors I am familiar with the rings don't twist and the actual latch is a separate item.
monty
ok thanks i thought of the drilling, but i think that the area around the hole needs to be relatively large the bar is only 1 inch across i could upset it first though...... thanks again
