    Yes, Thomas, I have a 400 pounder. Look at the small void on the side just in front of the hardy hole....my top plate is a bout an inch thick, and doesn't have any voids in it.

    It looks like there is a fairly large step frm the chisel pad up to the face. If the steel plate wasn't there anymore, wouldn't that step be much smaller?
