saintjohnbarleycorn
I am looking to work with some 3/8 or 1/2" ss rod for a decorative knife, I don't know what type it is. What heat would you get stainless to for hammering? Being tough do you need it higher than red heat? thanks.
bajajoaquin
You need to keep stainless really hot or it will get stress cracks. It gets tough to hammer below orange. The other challenge is that it doesn't spark as it gets to welding heat so you can burn it up if you don't watch it.
arftist
True that. White heat and hit it HARD.
