hammerwolfe
Does anybody have any plans for an "H" frame hydraulic forge? Actual plans that I can buy or copy. What I am looking for is what size steel components are recommended and of course, foot controlled valve system for about a 40 to 70 ton press. Thanks … Mike…. www.designsiniron.com
Randy
Here's what you need: "Build Your Own Hydraulic Forging Press" by Jim Batson http://www.americanbladesmith.com/store/s-pages/ABS_Store_Forging%20Press.htm The American Bladesmith website. hammerwolfe
Thanks for the Info, I do have the Batson book and have all the supplies and a frame built. I would really like to build an H frame press instead and not a C frame press but I am concerned with steel frame stress levels and was hoping someone would have drawing and specs for an H frame like a lot of the knife makers are using... I am a little confused. My Batson book has the plans for a H frame press like knife makers use and a c frame. Is there another addition out there? hammerwolfe
The book I have is the first books he produced early on, and was only for the "C" frame. The other books I have seen show the "C" frame on the cover. I never thought to look inside the latest ones he is selling....
Randy
The one I have also has the H-frame. It says in the cover that it's dated Aug. 22, 1994 and is 46 pages.
bkforge
Why do you want an H frame instead of a C frame, considering you already have the frame built? Just finish it up and use it. If you built it according to Batson's plans it is plenty overbuilt. I've been using my C frame for 16 years. Bill
hammerwolfe
The thing is, the”C” frame design is so complicated. The “H” frame seems much less complicated, safer, and cheaper. I probably will have both, but what I really want is a 70 to 100 ton, wide “H” frame that I can do furniture and other projects on. Again I did not know Batson had a second version showing the stress factors for an H frame. So I will buy the newer version… Thanks… Mike… www.designsiniron.com
