ThomasPowers Posted October 31, 2006 Share Posted October 31, 2006 Note that most quench data is based on 1" crossection material and so what is a suggested quench for a 1" section may be too harsh a quench for knife blade sized cross sections. Generally the lower carbon, (below eutectic), shallow hardening steels do better in a water quench than higher carbon high alloy steels.
