Hammer
Hi all, I have a question about the Champion pump lever rivet forge. The ratchet assembly has three dogs that engage the large belt driven wheel. Is the three dogs and gear assembly suposely lubricated with oil or grease? It's making a noise when one of the dogs is draging on the gear. Any sugestions? Brian
HWooldridge
Most of this equipment needs liberal lubing so I'd say put some grease on it and see if the noise goes away. I use ATF on everything but I'm not real concerned if the excess drips a bit since my shop has a dirt floor.
pkrankow
Ratchet pawls are typically oiled as grease can interfere with their free movement. Specifically I do not know what your forge uses. Phil
Ed Steinkirchner
if possable a pic would be nice, because i have rebuilt one and i have used oils pretty much exclusively. i dripped motor oil in the holes only because it stayed outside and 3 in 1 oil washed off in the rain too easily, but inside 3 in 1 would work i think. hope it helps Ed Steinkirchner
