Dillon Sculpture
Finally got some time to try some dies out, 3" ball and 3 1/2" ID pipe. Tried the 1/4" steel plate first, not sure why I always pick up the largest piece I find first. Some 1/8" steel, and 1/4" aluminum, two hits for the 1/4" aluminum. I do have concern about the return of the ram, If you impact something it will return nicely, but operations like sinking or drifting I have problems with the return of the ram. There is a large spring that moves the contact wheel into the flywheel and I have pretty much fully adjusted it, I may need a heavier spring made unless I'm missing something? Randy
It's funny to see this. I just did the same thing in order to make the 2 sides of some bird heads I had to do for a bridge railing. Punched into a hollow block and cut off the half round to make half of the birds head. Quite the time saver.

Nakedanvil - Grant Sarver
For operations requiring stripping I like to adjust the thrust bearings where the screw joins the ram to allow a little slop. That way the flywheel has a chance to get moving a little before it tries to strip.
Dillon Sculpture
Thanks Grant, I'll give that a try.
