March 30, 201016 yr A little bit of new work. I've never done rings before, but decided to give it a shot after I was asked if I could. They are all from either 1/8" or 3/16" round. I used a coal forge- And had to keep a CLOSE eye on things to avoid burning these up! I had a couple of little mishaps along the way. If I were to start making a lot of these, I think I'd use a gas forge The finish is soy-based wax. I think that I am going to try polishing a few up, too. And, perhaps some stainless as well. -Andrew
March 30, 201016 yr Very nice work. I like the small, tedious pieces. I think the attention to detail in the tiny stuff helps me a lot when I move to larger work. The old "brass brush at a black heat" will give those an interesting effect as well. Don
March 30, 201016 yr That is some down right righteous work! Nice organic tendril, you da man!
March 30, 201016 yr sort of work that the 1 firebrick forge is well suited for, can do them in the basement during bad weather. Think of trying it out with copper grounding wire and then silver! Both hot forge a lot alike but copper is a lot cheaper to make your mistakes on!
