Tobago
My wife and I had an excellent day at Jonathon Nedbor's Canal Forge in High Falls, NY on Saturday. Jon and Mark demonstrated the making of tongs and bending forks and forge welding. Great stuff. Jon spent a lot time with us taking us through making a set of tongs. Made the process obvious to us both. The group raised funds for Doctors Without Boarders' work in Haiti. Well done to Jon and Mark and the folks of Northeast Blacksmiths Association. MRobb
It sounds like everybody won. You got some great instruction on some very useful, practical things. Good fellowship & they made some money for a very needy & worthwhile cause. Now, got any pics of those tongs & bending forks?
evfreek
... Now, got any pics of those tongs & bending forks? Especially one of Jon doing a drop tongs weld on tong handles!
Tobago
Here's a picture of Jon working with Margaret. Sorry, no dramatic pictures of a forge weld blasting sparks. This was an excellent event. Check out http://www.northeastblacksmiths.org/ for the dates of the Spring Hammer In. Good group and program at beautiful Ashokan. Mark Emig
Hi there, Thanks for the compliments! Glad to hear you enjoyed the event. We had about 30 attendees. We raised $175.00 for Dr's without borders in the Iron in the Hat. We are probably going to do this about 2-3 time a year. The only downside was we set up the meet for people to have hands on forging and you and your wife were the only ones to forge. All in all, a great day- good people, good weather and good food. What more could I want? Take care, Mark Emig
