chigato
Greetings everyone. I have acquired a big old anvil and was wondering if anyone out there recognizes it's mark. It has a star with an O in the middle. It is also stamped 10. It feels like it weighs 100 pounds. My freind who is 72 says that it is quite significant becuase of this mark. Is he right ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.
orgtwister
i'm not an expert but i'm think its cast and its not really big i would say a 100 pounds is on the light side for anvils
monstermetal
Well there is a "star" anvil listed in Richards book.. However the photo shows a 5 pointed star on the side of the anvil, not a six point start with a dot or O.... It appears to be cast and maybe be 10 stone (140 lbs) ? Its not 10 hundred weight obviously.... Only other thing will regard to weight would be 10 KG which would make it 22lbs and it looks bigger than that
Dragons lair
It may be cast but looks to have a thick plate on it. Evan a 100lb anvil is a good starter anvil. I would check with Postman for history and value.
njanvilman
I am sure Glen will speak up soon, but he like to have to location listed in the box on the right. Easy to get to from FAQ and going to User Profile.
