JWCarlson
87# Anvil (Old) Arm & Hammer markings - $200.00 110# Anvil Russian made - $50.00 These are for sale here locally. The black one I suspect is the #110 pounder from Russia? Harbor Freight? If I'm correct is $200 a fair price for the "Arm & Hammer"? Thanks in advance. I'm half hoping I have it backwards and he want's $50 for the one that isn't black as it appears it isn't cast iron. ThomasPowers
$2.30 a pound would be high for OH, not too bad for NM. I can't say for Iowa

I can't say for Iowa What price per pound would you expect to pay for it in OH? $2.30 sounded high to me. I guess I was assuming $1.50 or so... $130. pkrankow
The 110# Russian anvil, even if an HF anvil, is a decent anvil for $50, especially if the hardy is oriented in the regular manner, unless you are well along on anvilitis, or are looking for a better than a beginners anvil. HWooldridge
The A&H is a better tool so it comes down to your budget and/or negotiating ability. The pic doesn't expand but from my chair the face looks like it's in great shape. The Russian anvil may or may not have a hardened face but that can't be determined without first-hand inspection. JWCarlson
This will be my first anvil should I purchase it. Better bash up a $50 HF anvil than a decent A&H. Gonna see if my brother can pick it up. It's 1 1/2 away and he emailed me about 10 minutes after I left to pick up the forge last night from the same town... :(
