crforge
Here's one of the recent things I have made, on the last day of Mark Aspery's Fundamentals class back in October. I'm a newbie, but enthusiastic about it. :-) Texture on the petals is from cold-peening. The petals were forge-heated then formed with scroll tongs. A small collar (not visible in photo) is forge welded onto the stem to support the stem-as-rivet. Paste wax finish. The base I made after the fact... a chunk of 3/4" plate, chamfered and textured in the forge, with a hole in the top to hold the rose stem. I brushed it while warm with a brass brush, then paste wax to give it a cast bronze look. -Rick

crforge
Thanks Beth! The base came out of thin air, the idea for it anyway. I'm pleased with the result. If you think mine looks good, you should have seen the one Mark A. made while instructing us... wow. :-) Cheers!
Spears
My first projects didn't look that good. Some of my later projects don't always look that good either. Thank you for sharing!
