territorialmillworks
Have 1.5" duraboard and am going to build 2nd forge, this time with a ribbon burner. Are there any advantages/disadvantages to building with two layers of duraboard over one layer. What about two layers under the floor and one layer on roof and walls? Any thoughts/ideas appreciated. RatedZ4Zoro
Heat rises so more insulation on the roof of your forge would help it get hotter.
ThomasPowers
Floor needs to be something like half thickness hard firebrick to take the punishment *over* a layer of duraboard. Double stack it for walls and roof! Doubling it up will make your forge heat faster, get and stay hotter, use less gas and allows you the option of replacing the inner layer when it wears out.
