tatertatum
i am having trouble getting the heart of the fire up higher in my forge. Anyone have some trick to lift the heart higher and still keep the air flow?
Francis Trez Cole
how deep is your fire pot? have you tryed piling on the coal and wetting the top?
David Einhorn
The pile of coal shown in your drawing is not high enough. Note how much higher the coal is in Glenn's diagram than the top of the firepot.
ThomasPowers
Don't let your coal get packed down so tight in the firepot that air doesn't make it through to the upper regions. I sometimes have to "lift" the fire with a poker if the coke is forming a dense mass blocking airflow.
