Just finished this last night. Posting pics because a friend wanted to see it. All in all I'm happy with it, but I hate that I couldn't get the curls symmetrical. I always seem to get one side of a project right and then just can't quite get the other as nice.

Oh, well, I'm learning.

Getting two objects the same or mirror image is probably one of the hardest tasks we face IMO. That is why my tongs always have LOTS of character

It looks good to me. Hand made items are supposed to look hand made.

Something I recently learned: It does not have to BE symmetrical, it just has to provide the illusion of symmetry.

On stuff that looks "organic", like this does, I often prefer to avoid symmetry. I find it more interesting.

Nice work, Kendrick. I've never made anything that I was satisfied with. While others might ooh and ah, over an item, the flaws in it would jump right out at me. I'm sure the recipient will be quite happy with your creation. I would be.

I have a jig that makes the curls...and hooks symmetrical everytime. There are about 100 variations with several interchangable pins.

Looks great!!! Most of us are hard on the things we make. Most people are very please with the pieces that we seems to think are not good enough.
