Drenthe
I am new to this forum and I am not a blacksmith. My grandfather and father, and also my father in law were blacksmiths. Recently my father-in-law has retired due to health problems and the old smithy has to be sold. We have a picture of the previous owners standing next to the forge and anvils which was taken about 1920. The anvils and forge are still in there original places and all of the old tools seem to be present. Most of the machinery has been converted to electric in the 1940's, but the old pulleys are still in the attic of the building. I am trying to learn something about the interest in blacksmithing today so that I can assist with the sale of tools and building. The shop is located in a small town near Sioux Falls South Dakota. I would really like to walk a knowledgeable person through the shop and get his take on the equipment. Would appreciate any comments or assistance. I will be traveling for a couple of weeks and then I should have some photos to post. Thanks. Randy Edited May 11, 2009 by MuchDutch
